Volunteering

The Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS) is currently seeking volunteers in central Iowa. If you are interested in giving your time, please-oh-please contact PALS today.

PALS Now Holds Monthly Volunteer Orientations

If you are interested in volunteering, please plan to attend one of the following sessions:

Orientations are held the last Saturday of every month (unless a holiday) at 2 p.m. at the shelter (4167 20th Street). During the orientations, volunteers can learn about shelter procedures, and volunteer opportunities outside of the shelter as well. If you would like to volunteer, but are unable to attend a Saturday orientation, please call 641-236-4288 and we will try to arrange a more convenient time.

Community Service Opportunities
If you are interested in performing community service at the shelter, please know that your volunteer time will NOT be spent with direct animal care. Community service hours will be spent cleaning and doing general grounds keeping tasks. The following times are available for community service:

When you come to the shelter, be sure to let the shift leader know that you are there for community service, and make sure they sign off on your hours worked before you end the shift.
